Embracing my heritage.
Note: I am a white, middle-aged lady from the Midwest. Up until yesterday, I had absolutely failed my heritage because I'd never made a potato salad.
I have consumed many, but never participated.
HOWEVER. For this year's work potluck, I made a chive and onion potato salad and it was delightful. (Mayo-based.)
#i never grew up eating 'salads' because my mom hated them#we had a lot of German slaws and salads that used oil and vinegar#but my mother hates mayo AND onions#i also grew up eating like a Whole Foods mom because we were poor and that used to be out of fashion#even as an Iowan the only time I ever had gelatin as a kid was when i was sick#i didn't know white rice existed until i was 5#yes I am from the Midwest#i feel like my general distaste for the French comes from my mom's side of the family#yeah yeah aioli v mayo allat is French
